This illustration honours a creature both unique and vulnerable — a gentle reminder of our responsibility to protect one of the planet’s most endangered animals. Pangolins lead solitary, nocturnal lives, moving quietly through the bush as they forage for ants and termites with their long, sticky tongues. Their armour of overlapping keratin scales offers impressive protection against natural predators, yet it provides little defence against the threats brought by humans. Today, pangolins face severe danger from illegal wildlife trafficking, habitat loss, and accidental electrocution from electric fences. As one of the most trafficked mammals on earth, their survival now depends entirely on stronger protection, awareness, and the preservation of the wild spaces they call home.
