The Cape White-eye is a lively little bird, easy to spot with its bright white eye-ring and soft, chattering calls. It flits through gardens and bushveld in small groups, feeding on insects, nectar, and fruit. For nesting, they love the dense cover of climbing plants, and Star Jasmine is a favourite. Its tangled vines create perfect hiding spots for their tiny, delicate cup-shaped nests woven from grass and spiderwebs. Tucked deep in the foliage, these nests stay sheltered and safe — a quiet corner where a pair of white-eyes can raise their chicks in peace.
